Why must the Older Generation gatekeep Wisdom from the Future Generation?

An article by Rob Henderson called “Older Generations Continue to Surrender Moral Authority to the Most Naive, Narcissistic, Impulsive, and Dishonest Age Group” is about the older generations more reluctant than enthusiastic and compassionate towards the newer generations.
The older generations are struggling to comprehend and adapt towards the newer generation, therefore, they are more prone to shun them altogether. Henderson states, “[o]lder people are now reluctant to say that they have accrued some knowledge and have some wisdom to impart. Yet young people have a massive hunger for this wisdom”, meaning young people are desperate for wisdom and acceptance from the older generation. However, the older generation are more reluctant and resistant by this statement; mainly for their own selfish intentions. “[i]n other words, young people act out to see what they can get away with. They want to test boundaries, which older adults are often unwilling to enforce” (Henderson). Another on which to take note in, Henderson states, “[o]lder adults are also reluctant to exert such authority”. However, this can easily be prevented in some circumstances; yet there will always be discrimination in today’s society. Despite the reluctance among the older generation, they will be overrun by the newer generation as the years pass by; on which cannot be prevented. Therefore, why not influence the future generation with positive traits and motivations instead of filling them with distasteful morals and lack of wisdom within this world. On the final note, despite the negative aspects of the older generation; the future generation remains constant throughout their journey of life. Wisdom is a gift given onto those who deserve it, therefore it cannot be bought nor inherited by those who are gluttonous of its value. Additionally, wisdom is also a shield of protection against the ignorance of the world and the people within it as well. Therefore, use it wisely; do not be overcome by pride. As it will only create discrimination among those who seek or lack its value.
